FitFact: Top 3 extraordinary gym locations

Have you ever wondered what makes a gym extraordinary? These places are far more than just training facilities – they impress with their location, design and fascinating history, allowing you to enjoy unique training experiences. From the sunny beaches of Mexico to the snow-capped peaks of the Swiss Alps, gyms offer far more than just weights and treadmills. Some studios are housed in historic buildings, others offer breathtaking views while you work out and still others are located in prominent places (such as Zurich’s Sechseläutenplatz😉). In this issue, we take a look at our top 3 most extraordinary gyms in the world:

3) Historic – Gold’s Gym Venice Beach, USA

The original Gold’s Gym Venice Beach, also known as “The Mecca of Bodybuilding”, was the ultimate hotspot for fitness fans in Los Angeles. Since its opening in 1965, it has attracted bodybuilding icons such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno to tone their muscles. The atmosphere? A perfect blend of professional ambition and Californian nonchalance – you could almost smell the sweat and sunscreen! In 1976, the legendary gym at 1006 Pacific Avenue closed its doors and moved on. Today, the building is a residential building, where you can still see the old lettering and get an idea of how Arnold pumped his biceps there.

2) Paradise – Tulum Jungle Gym, Mexico

The Tulum Jungle Gym in Mexico is a real fitness paradise right on the Caribbean beach. With a view of the turquoise sea and the white sandy beach, this gym offers a paradisiacal setting. It also has unique equipment: almost all of the equipment is made from natural materials such as wood, bamboo and stone, which gives the whole place a rustic “Fred Flintstone” charm. Here you can work out right on the beach with stone dumbbells, bamboo benches and pulleys made by local craftsmen. The open design and fresh sea breeze make training an unforgettable experience.

1) Futuristic – The Bunker, Australia

The Bunker Gym in Sydney is a real gem for fitness fans. Hidden beneath the streets of Surry Hills, members enter through an inconspicuous door into a futuristic fitness world that looks like a real bunker. The modern, concrete-like design and cool lighting create a unique atmosphere. The first-class equipment comes from all over the world: Swedish barbells, Italian cardio equipment and English dumbbells. Training in this underground gym is guaranteed to stay in your memory.

Whether you train in a studio with an impressive history, on the beach or in an underground bunker – a visit to these studios is a journey that goes beyond simply lifting weights.

If these studios are not currently on your travel route, we have a great alternative for you: Our ACTIV FITNESS Zurich Bellevue studio is celebrating its reopening on November 29! 🎉Train directly on Sechseläutenplatz with a first-class view of Lake Zurich. A brand-new studio, state-of-the-art equipment and all this in the heart of Zurich – a unique experience is guaranteed!
